Hi, I’m Don O’neal a one-man country band and a Professional Country Music Entertainer. Let me take a few moments of your time and tell you what I mean by a one man country band and a Professional Country Music Entertainer.
One man band means I am a solo act. I have pre-recorded music and I play my rhyme guitar and sing.
The word Professional means Someone showing a high degree of skill or competence in a certain area.
I specialize in traditional country twang and never claim to be a “jack of all trades, and master of none”. I have been a full time country music entertainer for over three years and I perform real country music for real country music lovers. To be a professional means delivering, not just the music but, also looking the part, and have the right equipment to do the job.
I dress in full western ware complete with hat, boots, jeans, belt, and long sleeved western shirt. Tony Lama, Stetson, Wrangler, and Old Navy brands give me the professional look for my traditional country sound.
My music is pre-recorded by professional musicians in real recording studio’s and contains full back-up, harmony vocals and lead music breaks. This gives a rich full band sound on every song. My music is played through a HP Povilion Entertainment Computer to ensure the best quality presentation possible. Nothing in my show is home made, rigged, or shottie.
My guitar is an Applause acoustic/electric manufactured by Ovation and amplified by a Samson wireless system. The mic I use is a Samson wireless over the head mic, in the style of Garth Brooks.
All this is powered by a Yamaha EMX 88 Powered mixer, which produces 400 watts of power per speaker channel. It has full equalization and reverb controls to produce top line sound quality.
Everything is then delivered to the audience by two Pevy PR 15 speakers. Pevy is a top brand producer and the PR 15’s deliver top quality sound with enough drive to adequately supply any small to mid-sized indoor or outdoor venue.
The only thing left to add is my four bulb stage lighting system and the sound effects loaded on my PC.
Now let’s talk about country music. My show consist of approximately 50% old classic hits by the traditional I-con’s of country music and approximately 50% of today’s Top 40 country chart hits.
By old classic’s I am talking about songs which have withstood the test of time to be deemed as the best of the best. Songs like “from a jack to a king”, “Silver Wings” and “He stopped loving her today” My today’s top 40 chart songs are songs from approximately 8 to 10 years back up to the current hit songs played on country radio stations today. Songs like “No Shoes, no shirt, no problems”, “Beer for my horses” and “Your man”. I do not play any cross-over or pop/rock country. Not that I don’t like those songs and artist, it’s just not my style of country, given my voice and vocal range. The same reason I don’t cover one of my favorite artist, Vince Gill, not in my vocal range. Here is an example of some of the artist and songs that I do cover. This is not the entire list, just an example as songs are being added daily.
Johnny Cash, Waylon Jennings, Willy Nelson, Mearl Haggard, David Allen Coe, Hank Williams Sr., Hank Williams Jr, Gene Watson, George Streight, Brooks & Dunn, Toby Keith, Kenny Chesney, Josh Turner, and Craig Morgan.
From a Jack to a king, Who’s ya daddy, Whiskey bent and hell bound, Drinking bone, Memories of us, Achey Breaky, All my rowdy friends, Amost home, All my x’s, Don’t worry about me, Friends in low places, your cheating heart. Living fast forward, Born to boggie, play something country, He stopped loving her today, folsome prison blues, Beer for my horses, Watermelon crawl, Don’t rock the jukebox, you never called me by my name, Statue of a fool, Johnny B. Good, Fast as you, Neon moon, Boot Scooting boggie, Farewell party, honky tonk badonkadonk, Family tradition, some beach, Give it away, and make believe. As you can see a rich blend of old and new country.
That brings me to the entertainment aspect of a professional country music entertainer. Entertainment simply put, means attracting and keeping the audience’s attention.
Like David Allen Coe said in his song, “can you make folks feel, what you feel inside”.
I always put full emotion into my singing and try to touch the hearts of each person listening.
I do this best by moving about the audience and bringing the party to them one-on-one.
To reach out and touch each person with my song makes them feel they are an important part of the event and of course they are, perhaps the most important part of the event.
I know how to use my performing area or stage to address the audience. I have the knowledge to utilize my sound effects, stage and stage lights to draw and maintain attention. Now, I am not a great lead guitar player, I’m more of a rhythm player, However, I have been know to cut the music off and perform a song or two with me and the guitar. What I’m saying is, I know how to use my performance area, props, and guitar to gain and hold the attention of your audience.
The arrangement of songs is another way I entertain the audience. With each set I perform my songs are designed to build excitement in the audience, to bring them from a low point to a peek and then level them off, easy them down a notch and then start the process over again. I have a reputation of keeping people in there seats.
So, there you have what I mean when I say I am a professional country music entertainer. If it’s real country music you are looking for, then I have the tools, the skill, the talent and the knowledge, along with the real country songs to make your event exciting and enjoyable music wise.
I thank you for your time in considering me for your event and hope to see you soon.
