ETHNIK was born as Yusoph Akbar Ghanavati in Chicago Illinois raised in the heart of San Jose, Ca. who is Currently 26 years old with a HUSTLERS AMBITION. Growing up he surrounded himself by an ETHNIK community to help grow and appreciate others for their personality! He isn't the rapper that will talk about the gangs and broken family. As an artist ETHNIK was never about the negativity never falling into the cliche in the persona created within hip hop. At 18 he lived in STL, Missouri for 3 years and was taught the ways of hip hop! Music has always been his passion as well as therapy for Ethnik. He first picked up the pen and pad at age 7 and wrote poems to exscape his harshest realities. At age 13 he replaced the steel with the mic and never looked back. His flavor is West Coast Orientated with a Mid-West Swang-Down South Flavor and East Coast Swagger. But his roots are Hip-Hop to the core. He has been compared at one point to B.I.G. because of his passion as well as a 2PAC for his lyrically savvy mentality(just a few of the many artist who have inspired him). He has spent a dedicated 9 plus years learning the Industry and studying the trends and artist who have inspired him! As an official Indi Artist he visited New York to learn the industry and the business while at a Sony Music Convention in 2003. It was then he realized it was more than just being an artist it was about inspiring audiences! So far his accomplisments include a completion of 2 demos along side mixtapes and many many features in California, STL and N.Y. Currently his game is on top and his next album is in the making anticipating its debut in beginning 2009! But his accomplishments won't stop here. As ETHNIK expands he is continuing to advance everyday leading to bigger and better things. Currently his main production resides here in San Jose, Ca. with TEAZ'EM BEATS OF ENVIUS MUSIC.
